"Clear Aligners vs Braces: Which Is Better for You?"
Clear aligners have emerged as a modern alternative to traditional braces, offering several advantages that make them a preferred choice for many patients. Unlike braces, clear aligners such as Invisalign are nearly invisible, making them aesthetically appealing, especially for adults and teens concerned about appearance. They are removable, allowing better oral hygiene as users can brush and floss without obstruction, thereby reducing the risk of plaque buildup and gum disease (Lagravère & Flores-Mir, 2005). Aligners are also more comfortable, with smooth plastic edges that reduce soft tissue irritation, unlike metal wires and brackets that often cause mouth sores. Additionally, aligners require fewer orthodontic visits, as there are no adjustments needed, which adds to their convenience (Kravitz et al., 2009). Although traditional braces are more suitable for complex malocclusions and offer precise control, for mild to moderate cases, clear aligners provide a more comfortable, discreet, and lifestyle-friendly option.
